OCM BOCES Launches Heavy Equipment Operator Program with CNY Works

OCM BOCES Adult Education is launching a new Heavy Equipment Operator program in partnership with CNY Works to help train local workers for construction jobs, including opportunities with the I-81 Viaduct Project.The 60-hour course begins March 17 and runs through June 16 at the OCM BOCES Main Campus, 110 Elwood Davis Road in Liverpool. Classes will be held two nights a week from 6 to 9 p.m., with three additional Saturday sessions lasting six hours each.
CNY Works will cover tuition costs for students accepted into the program. No prior experience is required.
“We are excited to announce the launch of a new program for training as a Heavy Equipment Operator,” said Matthew Tarolli, OCM BOCES coordinator of adult programs. “In partnership with CNY Works for tuition assistance, we are working on providing adults the opportunity to enter an in-demand trade in the region.”
Information sessions for those interested will be held throughout February at CNY Works, 960 James St. in Syracuse. Sessions are scheduled for Tuesdays, Feb. 4, 11, 15 and 18, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. No registration is required.
