OCM BOCES celebrates 201 graduates from our Thompson Road Campus

Congratulations to 201 OCM BOCES seniors who walked the stage on June 12 to celebrate their graduation from Career & Technical Education and New Vision programs at our Cortlandville Campus!

The event was held for the first time in the Tompkins Cortland Community College gymnasium to accommodate the large crowd.

Students, teachers, staff, school administrators, families, friends and other guests clapped and cheered for each graduate as they crossed a stage decked out in BOCES-blue tablecloths, backdrops and balloons.

Many of these seniors are eligible for a CTE seal on their high school diploma, an industry-recognized mark of achievement in their given fields.

The ceremony began with a special recognition for this year’s inductee into the OCM BOCES “CTE Hall of Fame.”

CTE Director Eric Comtois honored OCM BOCES alum Ashley Marsh (top) for this recognition. This former cosmetology student is now the owner and operator of A & B Salon and Massage in DeRutyer

Comtois also recognized Dovi Motors, Inc. as the “CTE Business & Community Partner of the Year” for supporting OCM BOCES students and programs for many years. Owner Jesse Dovi accepted the award on behalf of the business.

Marsh and Dovi each received a plaque to take home. A duplicate plaque will be displayed at the Cortlandville Campus. Both honorees offered a few words of advice to the graduating seniors.

Later, two OCM BOCES students also gave speeches as part of their Student of the Year honors.

The honorees were Tully senior Emily Campbell, who represented the two-year CTE Cosmetology program, and Caleigh Stone, who represented the New Vision Medical Professions program.

Best wishes to all of our amazing graduates!
